BSGES supplies bulk matcha powder for cafés, tea houses, restaurants, hotels, and multi-location chains: EU Organic and USDA certified, batch-tested, and available in a grade built specifically for lattes rather than ceremonial whisking. Bulk carton format, CIF delivery, and volume pricing from 100 kg.

Preparing matcha lattes well, briefly

Matcha latte quality is driven as much by technique as by the powder itself. Whisking or shaking the matcha with a small amount of hot (not boiling) water first, before adding milk, avoids the clumping that produces a gritty texture and an uneven green colour in the finished drink. Water above roughly 80°C can also scald the powder and flatten its flavour, which is one reason a dedicated matcha preparation step, rather than treating it exactly like an espresso shot, tends to produce a more consistent result across baristas and shifts.

What grade of matcha do cafés use?

Most cafés use a culinary grade rather than ceremonial matcha for lattes. Our Classic / Café (AA) grade is built for exactly this: full umami and clear tea character that still comes through once mixed with steamed milk, syrup, or ice, at a price point that works for daily volume. Chains looking for a bolder, differentiated house flavour sometimes standardise on Roasted Character (A) instead, which has a deeper, coffee-like profile that stands out against a typical café matcha latte.

Ceremonial-grade matcha is generally the wrong choice for lattes: its subtlety is lost once mixed with milk and sweetener, and its cost per kilogram is higher than culinary grades built for exactly this use.

Consistency across multiple locations

Chains and hospitality groups need the same matcha latte to taste the same in every location, every batch. We supply from a single, consistent grade and origin, with batch CoAs so your quality team can verify consistency shipment to shipment, rather than sourcing opportunistically from different suppliers as volumes fluctuate.

If you operate under your own house brand, matcha can also be supplied as a private label SKU (for retail sale in-venue) alongside your bulk food-service supply. See our private label page.

Beyond the latte: matcha across a food-service menu

Once a location stocks matcha for lattes, it's a low-effort menu extension elsewhere: iced matcha and matcha lemonade for warmer months, matcha soft-serve or affogato-style desserts, and matcha baked goods made with the same culinary-grade powder rather than a separate baking-specific SKU. Standardising on one grade across drinks and food applications simplifies stock and supplier management for multi-outlet operators.

Storage and stock rotation for food service

Matcha is light-, heat-, and moisture-sensitive. For a busy bar setup, keep working stock in a sealed, opaque container away from the espresso machine's heat, and rotate stock on a first-in-first-out basis rather than holding large open tins for long periods. Bulk cartons should stay sealed and refrigerated until opened. This matters more for matcha than for coffee, since oxidation shows up quickly as a duller colour and flatter flavour, both of which are visible to customers in a milk-based drink.
