Liquid Cochineal Red A is a synthetic azo colour, also known as Ponceau 4R Colourant or Food Red 7, supplied under E-number E124. It gives food and drink a vibrant, intense strawberry-red shade, and because it is fully miscible in water it disperses evenly through aqueous systems, so colour develops consistently from batch to batch. Manufacturers use it to standardise or restore red tone in products where a stable, bright hue is wanted.

It appears in confectionery, soft drinks, desserts, sauces and similar water-based recipes. The liquid form is odourless and easy to pump or meter into a mix, and it blends directly into aqueous phases without pre-dissolving. Store it in closed containers, keep it from freezing or excessive heat, and stir gently before use since settled material can occur. It complies with Reg. 231/2012.
